Can U Do It?

When I was a little girl I used to dream of becoming a Maryknoll nun. I would see myself all dressed up in a habit with my sleeves rolled up, giving life-saving shots of medicine to long lines of children. I would hug each one and tell them how much Jesus loved them. As the years rolled by I no longer wanted to become a nun and I did not want to stay single my whole life. But I often thought how exciting it would be to work and live as a missionary. Our daughters Jen and Paige and grandson Nolan and granddaughter Tiffany have been on missionary journeys and each one came back filled with such joy on their faces and a desire to go again. I was disappointed when Ned and I couldn’t or didn’t. This picture shown with my blog is of a beautiful missionary family we support who are working with Muslim children in Kenya.
First it was my health, then I got used to making excuses for not following my dream. And Ned would not leave me and go alone. And FEAR! I was too afraid to sell our home, pull up roots, and travel to a new place to be a missionary. To be honest for a long time I felt like I failed the Lord, but Jesus began to talk to me and I finally began to listen and it took me laying flat on my back to hear. Have you ever slowed down enough to really listen to what God is saying to you? I always felt a busy day is a successful day. A busy person is a sign of a life being well-lived!
Baloney and again baloney!!!! In Psalm 34:4 reads, “I SOUGHT THE Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.” I learned a missionary can be anyone who shares the love of Jesus. My Ned does this with Pastor Roy and Brenda and some incredible volunteers every Friday as they give out food to scores of people. Our friend Jaime gives out food and clothes to needy folks all over southern Arizona and northern Mexico and shares the love of Jesus with them with such love and humility. Our pastor Steve, always finds the good in folks like Jesus did, even when he has been hurt and stepped on, and he keeps on giving to others. His beautiful wife Heather is always by his side, helping and aiding in tender, quiet ways and can she laugh! I hope I am sharing God’s love with this blog and the radio show Woman to Woman that I am privileged to co-host.
Do you notice when you read the life of Jesus He was never in a rush. He never held huge temple meetings, never ran for office, never pushed His miracles, only His love and the miracles flowed. He loved everyone even though He knew they would all turn on them. Can you imagine paling around with someone, like Judas Iscariot, for three years, knowing he was going to betray you? No, and so I lay my desire to run off to Africa to give shots and ask you to join me being a missionary wherever you are and taking a breather from your frantic schedule and just be. And He will come in and fill you. I sure love you all, Kathy
