When was the last time you stood up for Jesus and got soccer-punched?
It’s so easy for many of us to say, “I love Jesus,” but when you are blasted for doing so what then? Most of my friends are Christian so it doesn’t happen to me often and it should because Jesus is asking us to speak to a dying world…what is really hard is when you realize people are watching you and judging your faith by your actions.
This happened to me the other night…one friend got really upset with me because I believe Jesus is the only way to the Father. “I believe if I am good I will go to heaven,” she said, “and I can’t stand religion where you are told what you have to do to get there.” I can understand her dilemma. So often we, as believers, have set a terrible example. And you know the saying, “we are the only Bible many folks will see.” Our actions must show Jesus’ love and compassion. But we also can’t back down from His message. In Matthew 14:33, the apostles saw Jesus walk on water, feed 5,000 with only a few fish and loaves of bread, and they “exclaimed, “Truly, you are the Son of God!”
Jesus also told Thomas, one of His apostles, in John 14:6.. “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” It’s there written in His Word. No one is good enough to enter heaven by themselves. My friend is very well-meaning but we ask the question, what is good enough? What is bad enough to go to hell? Please pray my friend will find Jesus and that I will be an example to others of how Jesus wants us to live. The time is so short fellow-believers….it is time to speak up, always in love, but not be afraid to let your light shine….it is so short until Jesus comes back..what will you say to Him and what will be say to you? I love you, kathy
